Tombs, Bases, and Nonsense.
This is wearing on me very quickly, I finally get to a point where I can at least kind of contribute to a team, and I can't seem to get a team that understands sense in the tombs.
Let's review common logic here. You have a priest. If your priest stays alive, so does your team. If he dies, your team might as well. Therefore, you should keep the Priest alive.
You have a base, your priest is in it.
Most teams don't guard their base at all, or leave token defenses. So you can easily face 6-8 player attacks.
YOU CAN NOT KILL EIGHT PEOPLE BEFORE THEY CAN KILL YOUR PRIEST.
Why does everyone INSIST on camping INSIDE their base!? Do people REALLY think they can stop a focued attack against their Priest!?
I understand that people don't want to just leave their base all by itself, but c'mon people. I have yet to see a team camp their base and actually win (I mean, enemy teams never respawn!).
Does anybody else have an opinion on this? Has anyone here seen a team camp their base and still win?

I've also never seen a priest camping team and seen them win, however, i haven't HOH'ed alot so it could happen. A tactic i've seen occasionally is that a mesmer and a monk will stay in the base. If they try to send lone warriors to hunt down the priest, it'll either be crippled to the point where it can't chase the me & mo's but arn't strong enough to take out the priest healing itself along with a monk. If the team sends two warriors then the opposing team could be struggling already. (1. They lack proper amount of warriors in their own base, if they do have more warriors, then their party isn't too well formed.) This is however just a theory and i've yet to see it in action. To me it sounds it could work but it all depends on the people in it.

You'll see this alot in less organised groups. People screaming 'stay in the base etc' When 8 people are charging you, and are automatically respawned as long as their preist is alive... you cannot win against a constant stream of enemies without stopping the supply line.
You simply cannot defend and win, unless you're very lucky. The other team attacks you kill all eight, and charge their base, if you get there fast enough you can kill their preist almost unchallanged, but it's rare as hell.

Totally agree, you gotta hit the enemy hard and fast. If you attack them you not only are able to kill their priest but you are stopping them killing yours at the same time, Attack is the best form of defence. Even if your priest gets killed that doesnt make it any harder for you to kill the enemy team, it just makes it easier for them to kill you.

I was in a 20 minute battle between 4 teams, where none had a priest.

Huh...
The priest is there to resurrect your party, but if the opposing team annihilated you, then something was wrong from the beginning. You'll be rezzed and have DP, just to face the same team that defeated you a second ago. Chances are, you'll lose again.

Yeah, but you'll keep coming back, whereas once their priest is down they'll wear down. If you camp base to "protect" your priest, you're just asking to be overrun.

It is Deathmatch, you must kill poeple to win.
Keeping your preist is good form, and to a point it would be rediculous to abanden him, however at some point it may be time to hit the road and kill some people. For example if you kill everyone elses priest, then who cares, noone has one.
I have been consistantly more successful here "hunting" other teams, then I have been locked to a base and tightly wrapped around an NPC. Protecting the priest can be important (although not always) but it is never the end game of the mission, killing everyone else is, and he just doesnt help much with this task. Once your down to 3 or so teams, he really isnt much of a factor anymore.
